It has been 8 months since I last headed for Cincinnati. Today, I finally head back with the company of Joyce and Cher. I must admit I was still much excited even though I’ve been to the place for the nth time. I didn't sleep during the packing process. At the airport, 3 of us were already engaged with all sorts of stories. For the first time in my life, I didn’t even open my computer to go online. What a surprise! :) Inside the plane, I paced myself to fight off jetlag. Sleeping at the right time intervals and keeping my eyes wide open whenever I had to. I have been quite outdated during the past months so I grabbed the opportunity to knock off 3.5 movies during that flight. As shallow as it may seem, I felt accomplished after that. :) We had quite a memorable flight. I even got flagged by a random person for my non-stop talking. Hehe. The past 4 days have been all about food tripping and bonding sessions from the heavy stuff to the most trite. We started off with McCormick and Schmicks to Teak to Graeters to Jean Robert’s Table. And of course tonight, I feasted on my favorite sea bass of all time from Mitchells at Newport! I probably over hyped things but personally, I could eat that dish forever! I even had a past entry on that sea bass already! I realize I have several photos of the same sea bass eaten during different time frames with different people. Such an addict! Haha!!! To feast on great food with the company of wonderful friends, I could not ask for more. What a privilege. :) In every single trip, I always make sure I enjoy it to the fullest and no one has the right to get in the way. Not even dry cough! Thanks to Joyce for the vitamin C and who could forget, my ever reliable Thermoburst that kept me back on track! :) I have more than a week of memories with Cher and Joyce and I can’t wait! Check out our food trip sessions that may potentially get you jealous!!! :) We promise to go for healthier options after this! :D Great Seafood at McCormick and Schmicks!Going for Thai with TeakFrench Delight at Jean Robert's TableGraeters : Cincinnati's PridePersonal High at Mitchells

I always enjoy this night view of Cincinnati from Newport, Kentucky. While here's another angle of Cincinnati during the day from Mt. Adams.
There's the P&G Towers along with the latest sky scraper which happens to be the tallest one as of today. It had officially beaten Carew Tower. Notice how there's a tiara on top to represent Cincinnati being the "Queen City." Just learned about that trivia during this trip! :) To visit Keeneland was always of great interest to me especially after finding out that it's one of the finest places for thoroughbred racing within Kentucky! It was just a 2.5 hour drive from downtown Cincinnati. Apart from just being able to go through the experience, the concept of placing bets for horse racing was nothing new to me. I grew up with my grandfather raising horses to earn a living. He was telling me how he used to have nothing but his horse. This passion of his was obviously passed on to my dad and my aunts. I grew up cheering for my dad's horse on tv during the weekends. I remember visiting stables, watching my dad work on those breeding diagrams and helping him think of potential horse names. That even became an issue at some point. Some believed that naming the horses after our names might have some sort of link or an impact on us when a horse gets sick, loses the race, or dies. One of my dad's first horses was named "Real Queen" I remember cheering for this horse which won several times. It died at some point though and since then, dad never used our names anymore. :-)
I was fortunate I had friends who didn't mind checking out Keeneland. Some didn't mind going again. So Arthur, Joan, John, and I tried out our luck for the afternoon. True enough, it was one of the most beautiful race tracks I've seen. We got to witness some viewers with their fancy attire. We didn't mind the intense heat just so we got a great front view. The entire concept of trying to predict which horse will win was intriguing. There were different options (race, place, pentafecta, trifecta) which were so much more than the alternatives we have back in Manila. Being able to bet and claim the cash earnings on the same day was kinda cool! We took turns placing the group's guesses. We were able to double the amount. Too bad we didn't have time to celebrate using the winning amount but we decided to donate it for a good cause. :-) - Intensely hot Sunday!
- Walked to Kentucky (took us an hour!) because no cab available due to Taste of Cinci event! - We always visit newport but never bothered to check out the aquarium. Finally we decided to give it a shot. - Aquarium Highlights: We touched the baby sharks! We witnessed the cute penguins! Looked like those from the movie happy feet! I loved how the jelly fishes glowed I touched the starfish Despite the super hot weather, I had a great time with Ces. We headed to Keith's place afterwards to watch AI and see his cats!
